Chespin is the most curious of the new 6th Generation Starters. Countless people have assumed there to be a Saurian theme that followed the grass starters. For those who don’t know, the Saurian theme was a connection that all the previous Grass Starters shared with Dinosaurs. Yet Chespin is the first ever Mammal to come of the Grass Starters, completely negating the Saurian theme we all assumed was present.

Blue and I can’t help but wonder if there is some other theme that ties Chespin to the previous grass starters. Is he possibly a Prehistoric Mammal? That could be an extension of the Saurian theme to a possible “Prehistoric Theme”.

One connection we do see between all the starters is the number of leaves they all share. If you notice, Bulbasaur has 0 leaves, only a bulb. Bayleaf has ONE leaf on top of his head. Treecko and Turtwig have two split leaves, Treecko on his tail, Turtwig on his head. Snivy and Chespin have 3, Snivy on his tail, Chespin on his head (that is if the other two are considered ears) . There could be a numerical connection going on here in terms of leaves: 0, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3. If the 7th generation grass starters has 3 as well, this could tie all the starters with some sort of connection to numerics and leaves.

To add to it, we have very little knowledge as to what Chespin even is. His name suggests that he has a combination of Chestnuts + Pins/Needles, which could possibly connect to a Hedgehog or Porcupine. Yet, the creature Chespin most looks like is a Chipmunk. There are so many questions surrounding him that we are extremely curious to see what he will evolve into. If anyone has their opinions as to what Chespin is, or would like to submit any sort of art depicting his evolution, we welcome all input!
